Woman suspected of driving towards officer is arrested near Beverly Hills protest

BEVERLY HILLS — A woman was arrested Saturday night when she allegedly drove her vehicle toward a Beverly Hills police officer who was blocking a street for the weekly pro-Trump Freedom Rally.

The rally began about 3 p.m. at the Beverly Hills sign in Beverly Gardens Park, at 9439 Santa Monica Blvd., according to Beverly Hills police Sgt. David Leber.

The police officer got out of the way and was not injured, Leber said.

The woman was arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, he said.

A Freedom Rally is scheduled in the area every Saturday afternoon until election day, with the last set for Oct. 31, Leber said.

Demonstrators gather at the Beverly Hills sign, then march on sidewalks south toward the Business Triangle, then return to the park, police said.

There were about 450 supporters of President Trump at the latest march and there were counter-demonstrators, Leber said.

“There were a few shoving matches,” he said. But none of those acts of violence yielded arrests because police chalked it up to “mutual combat.”

The rally concluded about 8:20 p.m., police said.
