As radio station KLOS 95.5/FM is celebrating its 50th anniversary, including the one-day-only return of popular morning show hosts Mark Thompson and Brian Phelps on April 25, it was announced that station owners Cumulus Media Inc. entered an agreement to sell the station to Meruelo Media on Monday, April 15.
The Meruelo Group now has six broadcast stations in Los Angeles including KPWR “Power 106” 105.9/FM, KDAY 93.5/FM in Redondo Beach, KDEY 93.5FM in Ontario, KWHY-TV and KBEH-TV.
“KLOS 95.5 is one of the most iconic rock stations in the world,” Alex Meruelo, chairman and CEO of the Meruelo Group said via a press release. “We are thrilled to add this legendary brand to our Media Division.”
Starting Tuesday, April 16, Meruelo Media will take over the programming at KLOS under a local marketing agreement with a full transaction expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2019 after customary regulatory approvals are obtained, president of Meruelo Media, Otto Padron, added.
