Former Ulster head coach Jono Gibbes is to turn out to be director of rugby at Prime 14 membership La Rochelle in November.
The New Zealander has agreed a four-year contract with the French membership, with whom he held preliminary talks in Might.
Gibbes has returned to his native nation for private causes and can honour his dedication to take cost of Waikato for a few months.
He spent only one season at Ulster earlier than being granted an early launch from his contract for “household causes”.
The 41-year-old was promoted to the function of head coach at Kingspan Stadium in January following the departure of director of rugby Les Kiss.
Gibbes flew to the west of France to carry talks with La Rochelle throughout a relaxation day for the Ulster squad forward of their Champions Cup play-off win over the Ospreys on 20 Might.
The previous Leinster and Clermont Auvergne forwards coach had agreed to turn out to be head coach of Waikato within the Mitre Cup and can occupy that function earlier than returning to Europe within the autumn.
