Wind is making it impossible to hold the Olympic alpine events

Athletes and organizers continued battling the weather on Day 5 of the Games.

For a third straight day events were cancelled because of high winds on Wednesday. The women’s slalom which was scheduled for Wednesday morning has been postponed to Friday with start times still to come.

Delays are complicating an already packed competition schedule and mean that some athletes will be sometimes be forced to compete twice in one day.

In Gangneung, the city hosting Olympic skating events, organizers took to loudspeakers to urge pedestrians to go inside and take shelter from the wind.
