3 keys in the BYU Cougars’ 83-63 win over the Pepperdine Waves

Following a disappointing one-point loss to the Pacific Tigers last Saturday, the BYU Cougars rebounded Thursday night at home with a 83-63 win over the Pepperdine Waves.

The turning point: Over the final 2:03 of the first half and the opening 4:19 of the second, the Cougars went on a 21-6 run to stretch a two-point lead to 17, and they didn’t look back.

BYU shot over 58 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the 3-point line

The Cougars made 18 free throws on 27 attempts compared to just eight on 13 tries for the Waves.

BYU committed just 10 turnovers, while the Waves finished with 16.

The hero: Elijah Bryant scored a game-high 25 points, 13 of which came during the key stretch. Yoeli Childs added 21 for the Cougars.
