Rudy Gobert suggests ‘dirty play’ after right knee clash with Dion Waiters

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert isn’t afraid to use Twitter to voice his opinion.

That’s exactly what he did after Utah suffered its fourth straight loss to the Miami Heat, 84-74.

Gobert posted 12 points and 12 boards for his eighth double-double of the season, but scared Jazz fans late in the third quarter after clashing with Heat guard Dion Waiters where his knee appeared to buckle.

“I was feeling a little sore,” Gobert said. “I know that my ligaments were fine, so it was just pain.”

He was taken off the court, as he limped to the locker room, but would return in the fourth with a right knee contusion.

“It feels better than it looked on the video,” Gobert said. “I think it was a dirty play, but no matter what the most important thing is to keep getting better and to win tomorrow.”

After the game, Gobert retweeted footage of the near injury, while adding the comment: “Dove for the ball right…”

Multiple angles of the play don’t suggest whether or not Waiters intentionally tried to hurt he big man, but it could’ve potentially ended much worse.

“He just dove right into my knee,” Gobert described. “Kind of like the same thing that happened before on my MCL so my knee just went inside and kind of popped inside and back out.”

You be the judge.
